The Center for Family Outreach has a long tradition of excellence in providing education, prevention and early intervention programming for students and their families.  Their goal is to strengthen family relationships, promote positive communication and enhance the ability to solve problems together as a family.  Their greatest strengths are the compassion, integrity and family support they have for teenagers and their families who experience experience turbulent times during adolescence. 

CCAC is an independent nonprofit dedicated to preventing and responding to child maltreatment, particularly cases of child physical and sexual abuse. The CCAC provides effective child abuse awareness and prevention training, victim support, family advocacy, and forensic interviews using a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach.

Realities For Children provides for the emergency and ongoing support needs of children in Northern Colorado who have been abused, neglected, or are at-risk.

  • they do this through a healing philosophy that provides emergency funding for children in Larimer County when all other resources are exhausted.
  • they support the process of recovery through youth activities, critical item distributions, and resources to our Partner Agencies.
  • they work to break the cycle of abuse through special direct grant programs and scholarships for the youth we serve.

The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding to purchase bicycle helmets to needy children receiving new bicycles from Realities for Children.

Global Leaders is a leadership development program in Fort Collins, CO that offers domestic and international service learning opportunities for students. Students participate in a 9 month domestic leadership program that includes weekly service-learning opportunities with other local non-profit organizations monthly leadership seminars that focus on community issues and engagement.  Students subsequently spend 12 days in Guatemala as a culmination to their 9 month leadership program. The students stay with host families, sharing traditions, culture and language.  Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club funding was used to purchase fresh food, as well as toiletries such as body soap, shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste from the Food Bank or store.

Putnam Elementary School

Putnam Elementary School serves the needs students from kindergarten through 5th grade.  The majority of students at Putnam Elementary School receive free or reduced lunches. The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding in support of a PTA-sponsored book fair with the goal of purchasing one

Teaching Tree Early Childhood Learning Center

The Teaching Tree Early Childhood Learning Center is the largest nonprofit childcare center serving low-income families in Larimer County. It is one of the only centers that provide affordable care for families that are working toward self-sufficiency.  The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding to purchase new surfacing and outdoor equipment for renovating playground facilities.

Mobile Laundry

The mission of the Mobile Laundry Program is to break down barriers to success for low-income families and for adults experiencing homelessness in Larimer County, through free, mobile laundry services. Their Mobile Laundry truck is equipped with six sets of washers and dryers. The Mobile Laundry Program identifies regular, predictable locations in Loveland and Fort Collins for program participants to drop off their dirty clothes and then pick them up 90 minutes later (or at the end of the day), clean, dry and folded!  The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding to replace all 6 washers ad 6 dryers in the Mobile Laundry Truck.

Crossroads Safehouse

Crossroads Safehouse provides trauma informed care to victims of domestic violence and interpersonal abuse through advocacy and support. Its programs and services include a crisis line (answered by an advocate 24/7), emergency shelter (accessible 24/7), non-resident advocacy, domestic abuse response, legal advocacy, legal representation, rapid and transitional housing, prevention and education, and youth and bilingual advocacy.  The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding to purchase supplies for youth, including healthy food options that cater to any food allergies and cultural food needs, hygiene products, clothing, shoes and school supplies.

Respite Care

Respite Care, Inc. is a nonprofit organization in Northern Colorado that provides short-term, quality care for children with developmental disabilities and respite to their families, enabling them to enhance their quality of life. Respite Care strives to create an interactive, stimulating, and safe environment that addresses the physical, emotional, and social needs of each individual child.  The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding to enhance the area by adding A-frame cages and supports for garden beds, and to repair a playhouse and sandbox in the garden.

Neighborhoods United

Neighborhoods United was established in 1996 to unite diverse neighborhoods together under a common theme. The organization believes in early intervention with youth that are “at risk” or are potential “at risk” adolescents. The objective of Neighborhoods United is to unite the youth with the community and all local agencies that support the community’s youth. The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding to purchase new gloves, socks, and winter caps, as well as “super hero undies,’ for indigent children to meet the needs of families and their children.

Pizza parties

The Poudre School District program Celebration of academic Achievement encourages academic achievement for fifth grades at three elementary schools that have the highest percentage of poverty in the school district.  The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club purchased pizza, soda, fruit, paper plates and napkins in support of this program.

Sproutin' Up

Sprouting’ Up improves the lives of children, teens, and families living in under-resourced neighborhoods in Fort Collins through farming and job skill training. The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding to purchase the ingredients for lunches that were made with kids who work on the Sproutin’ Up farm.  These lunches fed approximately 45 meals per week.

Matthews House

The Matthews House provides a safe place where system-involved youth are provided with the resources and support they need to escape the cycles of poverty and abuse.   The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding to give hygiene pack to youth coming into the drop-in shelter, as well as youth who eventually are expected to come to the overnight shelter when it opens at the end of the year.

McBackpack

Each week McBackpack volunteers pack and deliver more than 400 bags of food to schools throughout the Poudre School District. At the schools, the food is then placed in backpacks and given to the children experiencing food insecurity. The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided support in purchasing food provided to these children.

Mujeres de Colores Las Posadas

Each year Mujeres de Colores provides much needed coats and gifts for children in low income and working-class families that are struggling, especially during the holiday season.  The KiwanisPoudre Golden K Club provided funding to  purchase coats and gifts for these children.

Coats and Boots

The Coats & Boots program distributes coats, boots, hats, and gloves to Poudre School District students who are not well-equipped for winter weather.  The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding that purchased 1,500 high quality coats and 1,500 pairs in support of Coats and Boots

Student-led high school organizations that provide opportunities to serve, build character, and develop leadership.

 

CASA

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Advocates for safe, nurturing, and permanent connections to family and community so children who have experienced abuse and neglect have the opportunity to thrive.  The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding to support an annual Teen Challenge Event, which is a combination education and career fair that hosts local vendors providing direct resource and support along side “shop talks” on various life skills for the teenaged and transition-aged youth served by CASA.

VITA

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance – providing free income tax preparation for those who qualify.

Veterans' Day Breakfast

The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club cooperates with the Fort Collins Senior Center every year to recognize veterans who served our country. The Kiwanis PGK Club, together with the Senior Center, hosts a free breakfast every Veterans’ Day for our veterans.

Mujeres de Colores backpack distribution program

Helps provide children of all backgrounds – working class and low-income – with a new backpack and supplies to start the new school year.

Salud Family Health

Salud Family Health provides quality and affordable health care to all ages: newborns, children, teens, adults, and seniors. Salud Family Health provides integrated medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy & pediatric services to treat the  whole person. The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided support for purchasing supplies for dental hygiene goody bags that are distributed to students bags who receive food through the MacBackpack program.

Food Bank

Ensuring that those in our community who are hungry have convenient access to free, healthy and nutritious food.

 

The Family Center/La Familia

The Family Center/La Familia provides high quality childcare and supportive services, with an emphasis on cultural attunement with the Latinx community. They also provides opportunities for quality, affordable early care and education through a variety of programming. The Kiwanis Poudre Golden K Club provided funding for acquiring two sets of six lockers, which provided teachers with dedicated space to store their personal belongings.
